No RFI left in someone’s inbox

  • A workflow everyone can read

Draft, submitted, under review, more information required, answered, closed. Each RFI shows where it stands and who it is waiting on, so nobody has to chase by phone.

  • An official response

The answer is recorded as the official response to the RFI, separate from the discussion around it, and can go through an approval step before the RFI is closed.

  • Due dates and reminders

Set the date an answer is needed by. The person responsible is reminded two days before the due date, on the day, and again once the RFI is overdue.

  • Linked to the work it blocks

Attach drawings, photos and documents, and link the RFI to the tasks it holds up, so the schedule shows why a task is waiting.

  • One register for the company

Every RFI across your projects in one list: filter by project, status, priority, the person it is waiting on or the dates it was raised and is due.

  • RFI log exports

Export a single RFI with its history as a PDF, or the whole register as a PDF, an Excel workbook or a CSV file.

How an RFI moves through SiteNext

  1. Raise it

Write the question on site, add photos or a drawing, set the priority and the date you need the answer by.

  2. Review it

The reviewer answers, or asks for more information. The RFI always shows whose turn it is.

  3. Approve and close

The official response is approved and the RFI closed. It can be reopened if the answer turns out not to settle the question.

  4. Keep the record

The full history stays with the project, ready to export when a claim or a handover asks for it.

Questions about RFIs

What is an RFI in construction?

A request for information is a formal question raised when the drawings, the specification or the contract leave something unclear — a missing dimension, a clash, a material substitution. The answer becomes part of the project record.

Why track RFIs in software rather than by email?

Emails get buried and nobody can see who is supposed to answer. A register shows every open RFI, who it is waiting on and how late it is, and keeps the official answer with the attachments in one place.

Can I export an RFI log?

Yes. The register exports as PDF, Excel or CSV with the filters you applied, and each RFI can be exported on its own as a PDF with its history.

Are RFIs linked to the schedule?

An RFI can be linked to the tasks it affects, so a blocked task shows the open RFI behind it.
